Rapid Response Dislocated Worker Program

Union Leadership Guidance: Workforce Reductions & Member Support

Workforce Reductions? Furloughs?

Questions about unemployment benefits or healthcarecoverage?

When a union workforce experiences layoffs or furloughs, members will have urgent concerns about their financial stability and healthcare coverage. Your Dislocated Worker Labor Liaison is here to support union leadership in guiding members through this difficult time.

As soon as you learn that your union members are facing a layoff, please contact your local Dislocated Worker Labor Liaison. Through Oregon’s Rapid Response program, we will coordinate a presentation for the impacted workforce. This presentation is delivered by a team of layoff transition professionals and provides timely, accurate information on:

  • How to file for unemployment insurance benefits

  • Options for health insurance coverage after job loss

  • Community resources available to support workers and their families

  • Other important next steps for a smoother transition

These services are provided at no cost to the union, its members, or the employer.
